2016 global share markets have started on a very weak footing, continuing the falls we have seen since the high of May 2015. As mentioned in my previous article this panic in global share markets started with Chinese shares falling heavily in the early days of January, a plunging oil price, and a tightening monetary policy in the US. Global markets eased further in February, continuing the major slump in January, but then enjoyed a strong bounce after bottoming mid-month. |

AustCham Vice President Josh Hyland recently completed ‘The Blind Challenge’ - a 32 kilometre tandem bike ride from Mount Beauty to Falls Creek in country Victoria, Australia with Khun Boonsiri Peungkaew. Khun Boon was born into a poor village with only 20% vision. Overcoming immense challenges she completed studies at Khon Khaen University and most recently, established the Mae Sot Blind Centre. ‘The Blind Challenge’ seeks to raise awareness of the capabilities of people with visual impairments and also raises funds for the Mae Sot Blind Centre. This year The Blind Challenge was supported by Australian companies including Qantas Airlines. Popular Thai TV show Kon Kon Kon will also be making a documentary of the event.
