AustCham invites members and guests to attend a Breakfast Briefing with Shaun Anthony, the senior South East Asian based Australian Treasury Department representative. Shaun is currently serving as the Treasury Minister Counsellor in Jakarta with responsibility for Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Shaun will be providing a brief summary of current issues in the Australian economy, government policy priorities and what developments the Australian Government is watching in South East Asia.

About the presenter

Shaun Anthony is Treasury’s Minister Counsellor in Jakarta, with responsibility for Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. 

Mr Anthony previously worked in Treasury’s G20 Policy Division as the Manager of the Policy Engagement and Strategy Team, looking after coordination of policy for four G20 Finance Ministers meetings throughout Australia’s host year, as well as engaging with member countries and the domestic engagement groups.

In his time in Treasury, Mr Anthony has worked on banking and insurance policy, free trade agreements, and managed Treasury’s engagement with the development banks, as well as working on the Australian Government’s foreign affairs and aid budgets.

Between 2008 and 2011, he was posted to the Solomon Islands as part of Treasury’s contribution to the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands. In this role, he was embedded in the local finance ministry, helping to lead the Economic Reform Unit and develop his local counterparts

Before joining Treasury in 2006, Mr Anthony worked as an adviser to the Assistant Treasurer and later to the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.
